Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor and admission to the New York State Bar are required.
  • Minimum 12-15 years of experience in all phases of corporate law.
  • Broad experience in dealing with all legal issues arising in a healthcare environment, with experience in Payor preferred.
  • At least 10 years of managed care experience or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in an in-house legal environment in a mid-sized organization preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer focused and “big picture” approach to legal issues.
  • Excellent educational credentials.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with little to no supervision (other than strategic consultation), and to manage numerous and changing priorities with ease.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with and command respect of CEO, Boards of Directors, other senior managers and outside stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates maturity and good judgment.
  • Directs the registration, renewal and protection of trademarks.
  • Oversee attorneys, paralegals and consultants responsible for developing legal tools and will provide direction to the teams to assist them in providing efficient and effective services.

Pay Disclosure

A good faith estimate of the compensation range for individuals hired to work for the EmblemHealth Family of Companies is provided. This compensation range is specific and considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market and business considerations. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the work is being performed. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range, as compensation decisions depend on each case’s facts and circumstances. Union roles covered by a collective bargaining agreement will compensate in accordance with the union contract.
