Senior analyst providing actuarial services in support of State Sponsored Programs. With specific responsibilities of projecting and analyzing financial performance, completing quarterly statutory filings (i.e., MMCOR), membership reporting, medical trends, pharmacy trends, monthly accruals for finance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in tracking the development, appropriateness, and adequacy of Medicaid, Essential Plan and HARP rates released by DOH.

  • Support analysis of hospital, professional, and drug claims experience, measure utilization levels and trends, evaluate cost and intensity levels and trends, and perform various other actuarial and mathematical analyses.

  • Support the process to develop the medical and pharmacy expense components for budgeting/forecasting.

  • Provide support for quarterly statutory reporting for State Sponsored Programs.

  • Provide actuarial support for other areas of the business.

  • Track development and accuracy of Medicaid risk scores.

  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.  Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, or similar major

  • Minimum of 2 Society of Actuaries exams preferred

  • Proficient in Excel and SAS

  • 1-2 years health insurance actuarial experience, preferably in the managed health care industry

  • Intermediate understanding of actuarial principles and methodologies along with good mathematical and analytical skills required

  • Highly proficient in the application of spreadsheet software and SAS required

  • Strong written and verbal communicator required

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt required

  • Demonstrated team player required
