Education, Training, Licenses, Certifications

•    Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition/dietetics; Master’s degree preferred.
•    Successful completion of Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR) examination for Registered Dietitian (RD) credential.
•    Certified Registered Dietitian by the State of New York.    
•    Successful completion of the National Certifying Board of Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) examination for Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) credential required.
•    Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM)’s Functional Medicine Certification preferred.

 

Relevant Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•    3 – 5+ years of relevant, professional work experience.
•    3+ years as a registered dietitian, preferably with 2 years’ experience in a healthcare setting.
•    Knowledge of nutritional/dietetic principles and applications and the use of nutrition care process.
•    Knowledge of concepts and methods of patient education including teaching and educational aids.
•    Experience in both individual and group coaching.
•    Ability to effectively develop & conduct education programs, individual and group coaching classes, and to serve as a resource to Health & Wellness Coaching Team and other colleagues.
•    Knowledge of how to design and implement special diets specific to a health condition while acknowledging different cultures and religious beliefs.
•    Ability to utilize nutritional principles to assess participant status/needs, and to develop wellness care plans based on appropriate calorie levels and nutrient adequacy.
•    Understanding of nutritional impact on health status by developing appropriate diets for patients with diabetes, heart disease, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, obesity, metabolic syndrome and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
•    Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal) with all types/levels of audience.
•    Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, Outlook).
•    Sound judgment, discretion and ability to problem solve.
•    Flexibility in the acceptance and completion of work assignments.
•    Evening hours required to accommodate commercial population availability.
