Summary of Job:

Support PR function as the Marketing & Communication department’s “newsroom manager.”  Coordinate day-to-day operations with internal teams, maintaining project plans and media lists and scheduling and attending media appearances and events.  Monitor media coverage and assist in the formation of a positive public narrative surrounding EmblemHealth. Assist in developing a strong social media presence and managing all internet marketing efforts. Maintain positive working relationship with media members.

Requirements:

  • Support the “hub and spoke” model of the Public Relations department by coordinating across teams, departments and external partners to develop media products, obtain approvals and amplify coverage on social media and other platforms.
  • Compile and send daily news clips, alerts, media summaries and reports to EmblemHealth executives and internal team members.  
  • Leverage media monitoring platforms to develop segmented press lists and reporting dashboards. 
  • Research and maintain list of media and influencers for EmblemHealth and AdvantageCare Physicians to follow and engage with on social media. 
  • Maintain proactive calendar of industry awards and recognitions and coordinate materials for nomination submissions.
  • Identify digital solutions that enhance the PR Department’s nimbleness and efficiency, from “quick wins” like smartphone apps to administrative solutions like scheduling platforms. 
  • Prepare fact sheets, media advisories and press releases.
  • Maintain project plans and trackers, including a master earned media tracker, a spokespeople tracker, and a content calendar for EmblemHealth’s blog.
  • Monitor EmblemHealth’s Press inbox and escalate time-sensitive inquiries. 
  • Develop and maintain EmblemHealth and AdvantageCare Physicians’ online media centers, including uploading press releases and working with EmblemHealth’s Design team to develop multimedia assets (e.g., videos, infographics).
  • Identify and track conferences, external committees and organizations that align with EmblemHealth’s mission and values in partnership with the Events and Sponsorships team. 
  • Schedule meetings and coordinate internal reviews and approvals. Maintain PR department’s budget trackers and process invoices.
  • releases and working with EmblemHealth’s Design team to develop multimedia assets (e.g., videos, infographics).
  • Identify and track conferences, external committees and organizations that align with EmblemHealth’s mission and values in partnership with the Events and Sponsorships team. 
  • Schedule meetings and coordinate internal reviews and approvals. Maintain PR department’s budget trackers and process invoices.

External Relations

  • Schedule interviews and media appearances. Provide hands-on support in prepping spokespeople for appearances, including testing technology capabilities for video interviews.  
  • Provide proactive, hands-on support at corporate and community events where there is a media presence.
  • Coordinate press invites for events and develop a PR run-of-show for events.
  • Capture photos and videos at events for media releases and social media promotion. 
  • Provide recap of events, including photos, key highlights, coverage and content that can be leveraged on social media. 

Qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S journalism, public relations or communication
  • 1-2 years of experience in public relations (internship experience is applicable).    (R)
  • Social media proficiency/experience required. (R)
  • Professional photography skills preferred, or willingness to learn. (R)
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to build strong relationships with internal partners and external media.  (R)
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and thrive in a fast-paced media environment, including unpredictable hours and crisis situations, with poise.   (R)
  • Able to independently move projects forward, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.  (R)
  • Passionate about mission-driven brands and storytelling. Interest in working in health care.  (R)
