Proofreader
Summary of Position
Proofread and edit documents for EmblemHealth, ConnectiCare, and AdvantageCare Physicians, reviewing print and digital
projects to ensure clear and consistent messaging that is error-free, grammatically correct, and adheres to the company’s
copy style guide (based on the Associated Press Stylebook).
Principal Accountabilities
• Review communications and marketing materials for consistent style and voice.
• Correct spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.
• Use a structured proofreading process to ensure error-free copy.
• Monitor consistency of all material within style and established guidelines.
• Fact-check data, links, and names within communications and marketing materials.
• Review multiple formats (i.e., digital and print) to ensure materials and messaging are consistent.
• Edit/revise copy as needed and appropriate.
• Check for adherence to Speak Human and other brand editorial style guides.
• Research, clarify, and discuss copy with the writer, editor, designer, and/or content owner, addressing any questions on messaging.
• Responsible for actively prioritizing daily workload and communicating any known time constraints with project managers.
• Perform other proofreading and communications-related duties as required.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Business, or related field.
Relevant Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• 1 – 2+ years of relevant, professional work experience (R)
• Familiarity with writing for print and digital media (R)
• Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat R)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.) (R)
• Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal) with all types/levels of audience (R)
• Strong command of grammar, sentence structure, phraseology, etc. (R)
Pay Disclosure
A good faith estimate of the compensation range for individuals hired to work for the EmblemHealth Family of Companies is provided. This compensation range is specific and considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market and business considerations. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the work is being performed. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range, as compensation decisions depend on each case’s facts and circumstances. Union roles covered by a collective bargaining agreement will compensate in accordance with the union contract.
