Summary of Position
- Drive the transformation process for one of three business segments: Commercial (fully insured large group, individual exchange, small-group, self-funded, and ancillary product lines), Medicare, or State Sponsored Programs (Medicaid, HARP and CHP). Define and execute the product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmaps to maximize value and ensure alignment with business strategy. Responsible for estimating/projecting ROI for specific projects.
- Collaborate with Dir., Reporting & Insights - Product Transformation and the business to identify and measure ROI for projects, to determine the future course of transformation projects based on those defined metrics, and to prepare information for senior management as actionable recommendations.
- Responsible for identifying cross-functional friction points, leading special initiatives and delivering clarity and momentum for the highest priority business needs. Serve as ‘bridge’ between Finance/Actuarial and the department(s).
- Lead initiatives that improve growth, retention, member experience and operational performance.
- Partner closely with cross-functional leaders to identify opportunities, structure solutions and enable scalable growth. Work across lines of business and supporting functions to drive short-cycle and high-impact outcomes.
Principal Accountabilities
- Drive strategy development and transformation execution for applicable lines of business; collaborate with the department(s) to implement and execute strategies; ensure they deliver the value/ROI estimated.
- Lead special projects tied to growth, retention, sales performance, GTM strategy and enterprise enablement.
- Develop and execute transformation strategies, manage cross-functional teams, and ensure that product initiatives align with broader organizational objectives for sustainable growth and a stronger market position.
- Create structured discovery processes to diagnose friction in go-to-market execution, account management and client onboarding.
- Represent the growth organization in enterprise-wide initiatives (i.e. member experience, sales reporting).
- Conduct structured discovery to identify root causes of breakdowns in processes, communication or coordination.
- Develop project charters, business cases and implement roadmaps for strategic priorities.
- Facilitate alignment across departments on goals, milestones and accountability. Provide oversight for designing and rolling out new operating models, workflows, and agile practices to improve efficiency and speed of delivery across product teams.
- Monitor results and status of all project deliverables; recommend/implement changes and develop resolution plans in the event the results do not match desired outcomes.
- Build frameworks and internal tools to accelerate decision making and knowledge sharing alongside other transformation pod members
- Collaborate with reporting & insights area to turn data into strategy, segmentation, conversion, churn, broker ROI, sales performance. Collaborate with Actuarial and Finance to determine level of success for projects.
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders, technology partners, and other departments to secure buy-in and maintain alignment on objectives. Ensure that level / type of accountability is properly defined for each stakeholder.
- Provide oversight and guidance of the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to discontinuation, and making data-driven decisions on investments and prioritization.
- Build business cases, implementation plans, governance frameworks for priority initiatives.
- Partner cross-functionally to scale improved workflows, incentives, tools across the commercial team.
- Represent the growth function in enterprise-wide programs involving member experience, eligibility operations, systems upgrades or vendor transitions.
- Act as the strategic conduit between embedded business-line stakeholders and transformation analytics functions.
Qualifications
Education, Training, Licenses, Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, HealthCare Administration, or related field.
- Master’s degree (MBA) preferred.
- Project Management certification preferred.
Relevant Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 10 – 12+ years of progressive experience in product management, program management, or a related field, preferably in a health care environment.
- Experience working in dynamic, entrepreneurial, ambiguous settings – proven systems-based, analytical thinker with demonstrated success designing, developing and implementing new structures/systems to reduce ambiguity.
- Deep understanding of group insurance dynamics, self-funded market, ASO contracts, distribution channels and benefit design, Medicare/Medicaid products, bid-process, sales/marketing strategy.
- Familiarity with broker/GA distribution and employer group onboarding.
- Proven track record of successfully overseeing multiple large (company/divisional) projects.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple priorities/deadlines.
- Ability to manage in a matrix environment, without direct management control, by influencing and persuading.
- Experience managing people and processes; strong collaboration and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure engagement and successful delivery of change.
- Healthcare or Product Experience across range of products and segments.
- Experience with/knowledge of: Finance, Actuarial, or Underwriting.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal) with all types/levels of audience.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
- Competence/knowledge of reporting tools / programming languages (SAS, R, Python).
- Reporting Tooling (Power BI, Tableau).
