Execute multiple functions of the Tax Department (e.g., tax compliance, reporting and planning). Provide input into planning and preparing strategy on an enterprise wide level. Work with the Tax Director to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax laws. Identify issues; provide recommendations for resolutions. Work with external consultants, advisors, etc., to ensure timely compliance on all tax matters. Provide guidance to other functional areas; serve as subject matter expert. Prepare documents/records for audits; ensure that all internal policies and guidelines are followed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in the preparation of annual and quarterly tax provisions and balance sheet presentation, along with any required footnote or MD&A disclosures for all public filings; manage tax filings
  • Collaborate in the development of a tax compliance system to allow the internal preparation of federal and state corporate tax returns, quarterly estimates, and tax return extensions
  • Monitor and update tax-related MAR documentation, control design, control testing, and remediation efforts
  • Coordinate tax compliance services performed by outside providers
  • Assist with coordination of activities for external exams and reviews from IRS and other regulating entities
  • Interface with outside tax advisors and Company management
  • Provide assistance and support with other tax-related matters as they arise (e.g., respond to tax inquiries by other departments in the company and inquiries by tax authorities); partner with other departments/LOBs as needed.
  • Perform independent research to maintain current with current/new/developing regulations and practices.
  • Provide input into the development and implementation of appropriate federal and state tax planning initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.  MS in Taxation is a plus
  • 10+ years of relevant professional work experience. Required.
  • 7+ years’ overall tax experience, including 3 years tax compliance experience at a public accounting firm and/or publicly traded corporation Required.
  • Experience in working with external (regulatory) tax entities (federal, state, local). Required.
  • Experience in preparing for audits. Required.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations. Required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (word processing, spreadsheet/database, e-mail). Required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal) with all types and levels of audiences. Required.
