Summary of Job

Oversee the implementation of business initiatives and goals.  Manage the execution of cross-functional programs.  Build and leverage relationships to provide innovative solutions to complex business problems.  Manage project portfolio and/or program (a group of projects), while monitoring internal and/or external dependencies.  Define program objectives and simplify complex issues, finding solutions through collaboration.  Track and report on risks and opportunities and how they may impact the financial results and projections by developing close ties to key financial and operational leadership.  Support plans and establish program governance structures, including breaking down large initiatives into smaller workstreams and coordinating cross-functional teams.  Ensure successful execution by addressing risks, facilitating change management, and reporting progress to senior leadership.  Execute industry and competitive research to support critical efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze current business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the development and deployment of a project’s strategic operating model, including documenting current state and designing future state across people, process, and technology. 
  • Manage the day-to-day implementation of strategic initiatives, monitor progress against goals, and identify and resolve issues. 
  • Actively lead in project status meetings; may lead on project Steering Committees of mission critical projects. 
  • Contribute to the development, coordination and administration of strategic initiatives in support of enterprise objectives and goals. Assist in annual Project Portfolio planning, scoping and prioritization. 
  • Lead efforts to ensure successful adoption of new processes or systems and support the integration of program outcomes into the company's operations. 
  • Analyze problems and partner to develop solutions and plans. 
  • Proactively identify, assess, and manage risks that could impact the program's success. 
  • Identify, engage, and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including leadership, project teams, and internal partners. 
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of EmblemHealth’s products and market share. 
  • Analyze business processes and market data to find improvement opportunities, prepare regular status reports with insights and recommendations, and assist in developing the strategic operating model. 
  • Develop standardized processes which may not require full project management to ensure success. 
  • Create and deliver compelling presentations, effectively communicate with senior internal clients, simplify complexity, and provide thoughtful and succinct recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Masters’ Degree preferred; MBA degree considered ideal 
  • Coursework or certification in project management (PMP), corporate finance, financial planning, actuarial science, data analytics, or related quantitative disciplines  (Preferred) 
  • 5 – 8+ years of related, professional work experience  (Required) 
  • 3+ years of healthcare experience in the health plan/payer/insurance space  (Preferred) 
  • 1 – 3+ years of experience in Management Consulting or Strategy Consulting  (Preferred) 
  • Experience in investment banking, venture capital or private equity  (Preferred) 
  • Deep understanding of financial measures, KPIs, and ROI metrics  (Required)
  • Strong experience in financial modeling, valuation, and transaction execution  (Preferred) 
  • Ability to work with diverse teams and manage relationships across different departments and levels of the organization  (Required) 
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with staff up to and including Senior Leadership  (Required) 
  • Ability to understand & interpret complex information and synthesize and communicate key information to all audiences  (Required) 
  • Ability to analyze data & business processes, understand high-level strategy and translate it into actionable plans  (Preferred) 
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple moving parts, track progress, and ensure successful project lifecycles  (Required) 
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal, negotiation); ability to build rapport and relationships  (Required) 
  • Proficiency with MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams  (Required)
  • Technical experience with data lakes, Tableau and Access  (Preferred)
