AVP, Actuary
Education, Training, Licenses, Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, or related field of study
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (A.S.A)
- Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (M.A.A.A.)
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (F.S.A)
Relevant Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 10 – 12+ years of relevant, professional work experience required
- 16+ years of actuarial experience with ASA; or 12+ years’ experience with an FSA required
- 5+ years of staff management experience required
- Ability to analyze complex health insurance issues such as risk modeling, impact of provider contracting changes, etc. required
- Strong understanding of actuarial principles & methodologies related to Medicare Advantage pricing and product design required
- Understanding of Pharmacy benefits and design required
- Proven track record of successfully overseeing multiple large (company/divisional) projects required
- Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple priorities/deadlines required
- Strong management and leadership skills – ability to develop and motivate staff
- Excellent written and verbal communicator – need to be able to summarize complex analyses succinctly and be able to present results to Senior Management and others effectively
- Executive presence; comfortable speaking with all organizational levels, within and external to, the company required
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Outlook) required
