Define and implement Emblem’s healthcare economics strategy to support the enterprise vision and mission. Build new healthcare data analytic capabilities; implement healthcare economics programs in collaboration with enterprise business and functional units; set priorities and drive value creation that enhances our healthcare clinical value proposition; drive efficient, affordable, and accessible care management and delivery, and facilitates Emblem’s business growth and expansion.

  • Develop healthcare economics program objectives, strategies and study methods to facilitate development of programs that support affordable, high quality and accessible care delivery and management.  
  • Contribute to strategic discussions / market access planning processes to enhance the effectiveness of implementation of business and strategies.
  • Evaluate proposed healthcare strategies, interpret findings and proactively assess market access opportunities for the organization through effective data analytics and development of financially sound business proposals.
  • Advocate for and facilitate data-based decision making at the leadership team and business / functional unit management level. 
  • Partner with business and functional areas to drive transformation of the business towards an analytically enabled organization; bringing best practice insights and solutions from across the enterprise.
  • Perform economic analysis and model strategic plans for health-care programs that drive medical cost management and affordability.
  • Advise the business and functional leadership team on analytics value opportunities on an ongoing basis.
  • Translate business problems into specific, meaningful analytics and transform complex analytics outcomes into actionable clinical insights and operational decisions.
  • Develop and implement standards, reporting and processes for: healthcare economics analysis; analytics solution development and implementation across all critical functions of the company; appropriate internal audiences; providers and external stakeholders.
  • Supervise the direct reports and mentor the staff in the Medical Economics Department.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
  • A Master’s degree, Statistics, Economics, Business or other quantitative discipline
  • A minimum of 12 - 15 years’ experience in the health care field required
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a director-level position with proven management ability required
  • Demonstrated skills in effectively communicating with senior level management required
  • Strong analytical skills and in-depth knowledge of health care industry are essential required  
  • Expert level skills with database, spreadsheet, and analytical software required
  • Ability to navigate across multiple organizational lines and  business and functional units to identify, analyze and quantify healthcare data sets required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Ability to effectively interpret, simplify, and communicate data/information to all types/levels of audiences required
  • Working knowledge of managed care operations required
  • Knowledge of computer software, hardware, and systems utilized in healthcare preferred
